Welcome to the Ironwood Observatory website.
If you are looking for anything to do with automated observatories
- whether it be using them, building them, repairing them, or just researching
them - you have come to the right place.
My name is Ken Archer. Over the past six years, I have dedicated my time
to designing and building easy-to-use internet remote-operated observatories
that can fit almost anyone's budget. There are actually two Ironwood Observatories
- Ironwood Observatory, located here in Hawaii; and Ironwood North Observatory,
located in Arizona.
Ironwood Observatory has been remote-controlled internationally from
Japan, UK, Poland and Russia and from other US states such as Florida,
Illinois and North Dakota.
Ironwood North Observatory Arizona and the University of Berkeley (The
Hands-On Universe program) are partners in a remote imaging program aimed
at providing astronomical images for educational purposes. Find out more
about our services here.
Due to the absense of a common standard when it comes to automated observatories
and their individual parts, I often found myself needing parts that were
either sub-par, or simply didn't exist. Therefore, Ironwood Observatory
offers a small product line of high-quality parts, professionally manufactured
to meet the demands of a fully automated observatory. Find out more about
our products here.
